The first, real winter storm of the season has arrived with snowflakes flying out there, already dropping 1-2 inches of snow! We have struggled with these past couple of storms to get the snow level down, and while the rain is excellent for the lake, the snow is great too, and should help kick-start our ski season. Expect snow showers to continue overnight as lows cool to the 20s, with the snow level dipping as low as 5,500 feet. Low pressure will stall off the Southern California coast and meander around tomorrow with wrap-around moisture streaming in from the south and southeast. This will maintain mostly cloudy skies with snow showers continuing. Cold and windy with highs only in the mid-30s and southeast winds gusting 15-25 mph at times. Snow showers will continue Friday night before tapering off on Saturday as this storm slowly departs the area, leaving us with a cool, winter-like weekend. Daytime temperatures will reach the upper 30s on Saturday, to the lower 40s on Sunday, while overnight lows drop into the upper teens and 20s. Total snowfall accumulations of 4-8 inches are still expected, with isolated higher amounts near a foot or more possible, especially above 7,000 feet. High pressure will strengthen across the region next week for slightly warmer temperatures and dry weather leading up to the Thanksgiving Holiday. Longer range is hinting at more unsettled weather returning towards the end of the month, giving us a great start to our winter season! If you're heading up to the mountains this weekend, be prepared for winter weather driving conditions and always carry those chains, as we currently have R2 chain restrictions in effect coming up to Big Bear!
